The name Bariloche comes from the Mapuche word Vuriloche meaning "people from behind the mountain" (vuri = behind, che = people). The Vuriloche pass was used by the Mapuches to cross the Andes and was kept secret from the European priests for a long time.
San Carlos de Bariloche is a city in the province of Río Negro, Argentina, situated on the foothills of the Andes, surrounded by lakes and mountains.

"No one must have lived like him in love and war."
Milonga de Jacinto Chiclana, J.L. Borges
In their deciphering the meaning of this aged proverb which speaks to the notion that love and war are children of the same god, we found that tango and Pa Kua Chang (a sophisticated Chinese martial art) are governed by the same underlying principles.
Using the resistance, the persistence and the plasticity of water, they have unlocked a unique method for exploring spacial relationships, spiral and rotational energies, transfers and exchanges of vacuities, and a greater sense of overall clarity.
In water, the concepts that are fundamental to learning tango are given a corporeality that makes these ideas more salient and comprehensible.
Aquatango is a vital step in the path of learning tango. After having danced in water, dancing tango will be a completely different experience. |
